- [Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance (Land of Hope and Glory)]
- 00:33
- This is New Albion on Mars.
- 00:36
- To new colonists arriving from Earth.
- 00:40
- Your journey from Earth to Mars has taken several months so
- 00:44
- you are likely to have 'space legs' from spending such a long time in zero-g.
- 00:51
- You may be feeling physically weak and disorientated
- 00:54
- now that you are back on solid ground.
- 00:58
- Mars gravity is just under 40% of Earth gravity,
- 01:03
- so any discomfort you experience on landing is likely to be less severe
- 01:08
- than if you were returning to Earth after a similar time in zero-g.
- 01:16
- On arrival you will first be taken to New Albion's
- 01:19
- space-side medical facility for checkup.
- 01:24
- We'll complete the immigration process and New Albion induction
- 01:28
- at the same time, so you can continue to your New Albion
- 01:32
- destination as soon as you are well enough.
- 01:38
- Once colony-side, you are as free to move around as a human ever was.
- 01:44
- The realities of New Albion life
- 01:47
- are such that there is no public transport system.
- 01:51
- In fact there is no motorised transport at all inside the colony.
- 01:59
- Pedal taxis are a popular choice;
- 02:01
- these can be booked at the colony's Exchange.
- 02:06
- Other options for getting you and your luggage
- 02:09
- to your destination may be available if you post
- 02:13
- a suitably general need at the Exchange.
- 02:19
- Dont worry about paying for goods and services when you first arrive,
- 02:22
- the Exchange offers a generous credit limit!
- 02:27
- Welcome to New Albion!
- 02:31
- [Dissonant clashing orchestral music]
- [Gustav Holst: Mars, the Bringer of War]
- 02:51
- [orchestral music continues]
