- 00:32
- This is New Albion on Mars
- 00:36
- The ecology of New Albion is modelled
- on and sourced from Earth.
- 00:42
- We have lakes, seas, rivers, and forests
- - albeit tiny ones -
- 00:47
- each contributing to New Albion's biospace.
- 00:52
- The flora and fauna of New Albion are monitored and
- 00:55
- protected with an urgency commensurate with the
- precariousness of all life here.
- 01:03
- Only 1 in 5 New Albion compartments are
- permanently occupied by humans.
- 01:09
- The remaining compartments in each Way are dedicated to
- food production and 'earth-like' conserved ecosystems.
- 01:18
- We don't have large enough spaces for megafauna, but
- 01:21
- keen-eyed colonists may occasionally catch a glimpse of
- 01:25
- invertebrates, fish, amphibians, birds,
- and small reptiles and mammals.
- 01:33
- 'Nature conservation' compartments are named as
- Parks and are a popular schools and spare time visit.
- 01:41
- While it's not possible to get
- "far from the beaten track",
- 01:45
- there are beaches, waterfalls, and tall trees
- - by local standards.
- 01:51
- If lying on warm grass beneath a blossoming tree
- 01:54
- contemplating the glowing roof doesn't
- put you at your ease at New Albion,
- 01:58
- you can always close your eyes.
