Accommodation at New Albion is minimalistic, but we sleep well!

This is New Albion on Mars
00:36
Accommodation is built on several levels either side
of the main route through residential Compartments.
00:44
'Space Rent' is collected monthly through the New
Albion Exchange, based on accommodation volume.
00:51
Sub-letting accommodation is not permitted, unless
intrinsic to some other service,
00:56
such as residential care.
01:00
Residences are small, by UK standards.
01:04
Tight limits on residential power supply means
01:08
private accommodation rarely has its own
cooking or laundry facilities.
01:14
Ground-floor accommodation is often used for
commerical and light industrial units.
01:19
The effect is similar to densely-packed shoplots
in South East Asia on Earth.
01:26
Compartment temperatures are
usually in a 'Goldilocks Zone' for comfort,
01:30
so accommodation needs neither heating nor cooling.
01:35
Consequently when the day's activity rests
it's almost silent -
01:40
there's none of the fan or compressor noise of
Earth's cold or hot regions.
01:46
We "sleep like the dead" in the catacomb-like
New Albion night!
